The Planet Pollutonia

My name is A-11, the 11th lord of "the city". You might wonder what "the city" is or why people have these kinds of funny names.

Everything has happened this way like a fast-plated movie. This planet, earlier may have been known as "earth" has deteriorated from its former glory in less than twenty years, due to "the war".

During "the war", Asia, Europe, and half of the American continent was eradicated due to the radiation from the nuclear weapons used in "the war", killing every men, and every living things in these continents. Only a few kilometers of North America was left untouched.

As the last of our race, we astablished "the city" and are inhabiting it for six-hundred years. I would not be writing this letter if there wasn't a discovery made about a few monthes ago. The scientists have found manufunctured nuclear weapons close to our city districts, that could explode and wipe out the entire city, and the last piece of humanity.

However, without the nuclear bomb threat. our city is dying due to the radiation produced six hundred years ago during "the war". This radiation has caused dark clouds and smog to cover the sun, radiation has also affected the water systems and the air we breathe. We need to rdfine every single drop of water and after 15 minutes of staying outside we need to put on our safety masks to stay alive. Due to this the life expectation in our colony barely reaches the age of 40. My ancestor and my honorable father, A-10, has worked hard to restore the glory of humanity, but all he has left before his tragic death was grief and "the machine".

As of the "machine" it is and ultimate invention of the human race. My father made the device through his life with the best scientists of our time. "the machine" works as a time portal that connects to the 21st sentury. It is a time portal, but a human being cannot get into it, of course. Their bodies would dessolve into a million pieces before reaching the destination. And plus, there is exactly 0.0000001 percent of possibility it might, so no one ever risked it.

My father, knowing well about the threat of the nuclear weapons still existing, tried to send messages such as this one back to the legendery 21st century. When he died of cell contamination, which is how many of us die, I was crowned right then and there with almost no time to grieve for him. I had a city to rule. A city that contained the last bit of humanity. But sometimes I wake up at night, mourning and weeping, lamenting and being angry at him for leaving me in this cruel contaminated world alone.

I have tried, and will try, to send these messages back into the legendary time before "the war" took place and radiation spread. Nothing has worked so far. But knowing that the city might be swept out any time, it must work. The messages must reach the 21st century, and people must be warned how they will bring doom apon themselves. How they will destroy their last shelter left. I will keep sending these messages, hoping to the heavens that at least one reaches the destination. Despite everything threatening us, I will never lose hope, because hope is one of the few things we still have left.
